DOCK NEWS!
The Dock Committee is Hosting a
Personal Watercraft Power Wash Event
Saturday, June 25^th, at 9:00 a.m.
On Saturday June 25th starting at 9AM we will have our clean up your dirty boat event at the dock area. A power washer or two will be on hand for those of us who believe that their kayak or paddleboard needs to be cleaned. If your boat is as filthy as mine, this is an opportunity to get it cleaned up. I recommend bringing buckets, soap, sponges and rags if you really want to do a good job. I hope that everyone will take advantage of this.
Contact me with any questions.

INTERSECTION SAFETY RESPONSE – Claibourne & Carrollton
INQUIRY: The Board received a request to cut back the brush at the Intersection of Claibourne and Carrollton Road. Even though there was an aggressive cut back of the shrubs and foliage on the Claibourne right-of-way last summer, the conditions have been ideal this spring to support a fast come back of the growth.
RESPONSE: The Board contacted the ARPOA landscape contractor. The intersection was cut back by the ARPOA landscape contractor on the same day.
Residents have indicated a concern about foliage creeping out onto the County roadways. Trimming back of this foliage is a County responsibility, funded by your County taxes. The County has been notified of the concern.
DOGS OFF LEASH & OWNERS FAILING TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEM
Violating Leash Laws and Nuisance Laws
We are again receiving reports of a few dogs being off leash who are “behaving badly” on/around the Overlook and beach. Your dog(s) may be the friendliest, most adorable in the community, but if they are allowed to run loose, jump on folks in their zeal to meet them (including getting them muddy, or sandy), or shake water on them, they aren’t so adorable! Being on the receiving end of such behavior can make the biggest dog lover cranky.
Owners MUST be in control of their pets at all times. We recognize that a number of dogs in the community are very well trained to voice command, and obey, even when tempted by a flitting fox, or dallying deer, other dogs or cats. If you aren’t at that pet’s side, you can’t see how they are interacting with others – human, canine, or wildlife. AND of course, you can’t pick up after them if you don’t see them depositing waste on the Overlook, Beach, or along our roadways.
Remember, leaving pet feces creates a health hazard for EVERYONE, including your dog, other dogs, and especially our children who play on the Overlook grass and on the beach AND it pollutes the watershed, increasing bacteria in our waterways.
At the risk of being redundant and providing details in lieu of the usual “links”, the following is being provided as a resource for Annapolis Roads residents in an effort to improve compliance.
Below are excerpts from Anne Arundel County Code regarding leash laws, public nuisance, and picking up after your pet and information on the nearby Hillsmere Dog Park and Dog Beaches:
REMINDER – COUNTY LEASH LAW
In Anne Arundel County, the leash law applies to both Dogs And cats. Article 12 Section 9-105 states: “At large means off the property of an animal’s owner and not leashed and not under the control of a responsible person”. Part of good maintenance and being a good neighbor is following appropriate guidelines regarding pet ownership.
Article 12, Title 4, Subtitle 9-903 Public Nuisance
The owner of an animal may not permit the animal to be a public nuisance or to cause a public nuisance condition. Public nuisance includes the following acts by an animal:
* Molesting pedestrians
* Chasing vehicles
* Damaging property of someone other than the owner of the animal
* Article 12, Title 4, Subtitle 9-909 Removal of Animal Excreta
* The owner of any animal shall be responsible for the removal of any excreta deposited by his or her animal on public walks, recreation areas, or private property other than his own.
NOTE: Failure to clean up after your dog can result in $50-$500 fines.
